Snack break
Fresh sourdough, cookies, almond cake. Rarely anything as sensible as fruit. Then back in to finish the theme.

Open mic
A friendly room to try your solo chops in. Encouraged, never required.
Bring
- A ʻukulele, if you own one
- Nothing, if you don’t — ask and we will usually find you one
- Ten dollars, a suggested donation, at the door
- A music stand, optional but smug
Nobody will make you sing
And nobody will ask you why you are not singing.
Questions
That is the common case. A Strum Leader shows the four chords the first song needs, and the songbook prints them above the words. You will be playing along inside a song or two.
No. There is no sheet music in the room, only chord charts.
Whatever you have. Most of the room plays soprano or concert, tuned GCEA. If yours is out of tune, someone will help you tune it.
$10 suggested donation at the door, and nobody checks. That covers the hall and the coffee.
Yes. Our youngest regular is eleven. Under about eight, sit with them.
No. The open mic at the end is volunteers only — a safe, friendly room to test your solo chops in if you want to, and plenty of people never volunteer.
Same room, same Saturdays. The club started in 2010 under that name and reformed in 2020 as the Plucking Strummers — with the g. Some older pages under the original spelling are still online and are no longer kept up; this site is the current one.
